How to limit RFID reading speed

Summary

Limiting the RFID reading speed may be necessary to improve data exchange stability with the RFID chip, prevent communication errors, and meet specific requirements of the software or integration solutions in use.

Requirements

  • A Regula RFID Reader device.
  • The RFIDTest3.exe application from the Regula RFID Reader SDK package (by default located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Regula\RFID Reader SDK).

Required Steps

  1. Launch the RFIDTest3.exe application.
  2. Select your Regula RFID Reader device from the list of connected devices.

  4. In the newly opened menu, select Show test interface to display the advanced interface.

  5. Go to the Test Layer 3-4 tab and enter the desired value in the Maximum data exchange rate field. The recommended value depends on the specific use case. Typically, we suggest setting it to 212 kbps.

  6. Open the EEPROM tab, enable the option Use current Layer 3-4 values as default, and click the Write button to save the settings to the device memory.

  7. Reconnect the device’s USB cable to apply the new settings.

Verification

After completing the steps above, the device will operate using the newly defined data exchange speed. You can confirm the configuration by reopening the RFIDTest3.exe application and checking the Maximum data exchange rate value on the Test Layer 3-4 tab.
