Depersonalization of document processing results

Summary

This guide explains how to hide personal data in document processing results using the depersonalization feature. This function blurs photos, surnames, first names, personal identification numbers, and other sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Installed version of SDK 6.8+.
  • Access to the RegulaReader.ini file located in the folder: C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK.
  • Administrator privileges to modify system files.
  • Internet connection to download the settings file.

Steps

  1. Activate the Document Type Recognition feature:
    • Go to Options:

    • Open the Device tab and enable the checkbox for Document Type Recognition:

    • Click OK to apply the changes.
  2. Alternatively, you can manually set the parameter DoDocumentType=1 in the **RegulaReader.ini** file located in the folder:
    C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK
  3. Download the settings file: RegulaReader.zip.
  4. Extract the downloaded archive and copy the RegulaReader.json file into the folder:
    C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK
    Place it next to the RegulaReader.ini file.

Verification

To ensure that depersonalization is working correctly:

  1. Run the document scanning process.
  2. Check the processing results. If everything is configured correctly, sensitive data should be blurred or hidden. Here’s an example of the result:
