Depersonalization of document processing results

Summary

This guide explains how to hide personal data in document processing results using the depersonalization feature.

When enabled, the feature can blur or hide sensitive information such as document holder photos, surnames, given names, personal identification numbers, and other personal data.

Requirements

Before proceeding, ensure that the following requirements are met:

Document Reader SDK version 6.8 or later is installed.
You have access to the following configuration folder:

C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK

You have administrator privileges to modify files in this folder.
An internet connection is available to download the required configuration file.

Steps

1. Activate the Document Type Recognition feature.

Depersonalization requires the document type to be recognized.
Open the Document Reader application and go to Options.

Open the Device tab and enable Document Type Recognition.

Click OK to apply the changes.

Alternatively, you can enable this option manually by opening the following file:

C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK\RegulaReader.ini

Set the following parameter:

DoDocumentType=1

Save the file after making the change.

2. Download the Configuration File

Download the following archive: RegulaReader.zip.
Extract the archive. It should contain the RegulaReader.json file:

C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK
```
Place it next to the RegulaReader.ini file.

3. Install the Configuration File

Copy the extracted RegulaReader.json file to the following folder:
```
C:\ProgramData\Regula\Document Reader SDK
```
Place it in the same folder as the RegulaReader.ini file.
Administrator privileges may be required to copy or replace files in this location.

4. Restart the Application

Close and restart the Document Reader application to ensure that the updated configuration is loaded.

Verification

To verify that depersonalization is working correctly:

Scan or process a supported identity document.
Open the document processing results.
Confirm that the configured personal data fields are blurred or hidden.

When the configuration is applied correctly, sensitive information such as photos, names, and identification numbers should no longer be visible in the processing result.
