Issue with constantly searching for the smart card driver in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008

Issue

While working with the Regula Document Reader on computers with Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 operating systems, you may encounter repetitive unsuccessful attempts to install the smart card driver.

This driver is not required for the Document Reader to function, so you can disable the installation of this driver.

Solution

  1. Open the Group Policy settings window by running the gpedit.msc file.
  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Smart Card.

    Turn on Smart Card Plug and Play service 1

  3. Double-click the Turn on Smart Card Plug and Play service option.

  4. Select Disable, then click OK.
