This guide helps resolve issues where the Regula device is not detected or detected incorrectly.
Requirements
- A computer with Document Reader SDK installed.
- Internet access for driver and software updates.
- Administrator rights to modify BIOS and system settings.
Steps
1. Update Document Reader SDK
- Ensure you have the latest version of Document Reader SDK. Download the latest version.
2. Update Device Drivers
- Open the Run dialog (Win + R).
- Enter devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
- Navigate to Other devices → Unknown device.
- Select Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
3. Update BIOS
Important
Incorrect BIOS updates may render the system inoperable. Proceed with caution.
- Open Command Prompt (Win + R → CMD).
- Run wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion to check the current BIOS version.
- Download the latest BIOS version from the motherboard manufacturer’s official website.
4. Disable "Fast Startup" in Windows
- Open Control Panel → Power Options.
- Under System Settings, uncheck Turn on fast startup.
5. Disable Fast Boot in BIOS
- Restart the computer and enter BIOS.
- Go to Boot → Boot Configuration.
- Uncheck Fast Boot.
6. Disable Portable Device Charging Mode
- Enter BIOS.
- Navigate to Devices → USB.
- Set Portable device charging mode to Off.
Verification
- Restart the computer and ensure the Regula device is detected correctly.
- Test the device via the Document Reader application.
Common Errors
- Device not detected after driver update → Reinstall the driver manually.
- BIOS update failure → Follow the motherboard manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
